Fouche_imgColRiana has worked for a number of airlines and travel companies over the span of her career, holding various senior management positions.  Humble beginnings, she started her career as a retail travel consultant, followed by an operational role at an international airport after which she coordinated marketing for a local travel publication. Her travel career got on track when she joined EgyptAir as National Sales & Marketing Executive, affording her the opportunity to serve on the Star Alliance Marketing Council in South Africa.

She then moved into a National Sales Manager role for three large international airlines: Ethiopian Airlines, Finnair and Air New Zealand. In addition to this, she was also responsible for the sales strategies of a number of smaller, regional airlines. As Sales Manager, she managed to grow airline sales in the territory at a rate which was higher than the IATA average at the time.

During her career Riana also became a senior member of Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) South Africa’s management team when she headed up the Account Management Department of Corporate Traveller and managed to achieve a 95% customer retention rate. After achieving many successes in this role, she pursued another challenging position as head of Corporate Product Procurement for FCTG’s corporate brands, FCm, Corporate Traveller and Flight Centre Business Travel. Here she was responsible for product sourcing and supplier contract negotiation.

Recognising the need for independent travel procurement, coupled with her unique skill set presented the opportunity for her to start her own consultancy firm – Opti Consulting (Pty) Ltd; a proud member of the PTC Group. Her various senior positions held and expertise acquired over the past years make Riana an ideal advisor to corporate travel buyers.

Riana is based in South Africa and studied BComm Corporative Communication and Tourism Management after which she completed her BComm Honours Degree in Tourism Management, specialising in Tourism Marketing – Market Segmentation
