Oconner_imgColTony is the Founder and Managing Director of Butler Caroye Asia Pacific, the region's leading independent travel management consultancy. Since establishing the business in 1998, he has assisted major corporations and institutions in over 120 travel procurement projects, with a total spend of over $2 billion. His expertise covers airline, TMC, technology, car, card, accommodation, expense management and internal process, strategy and policy.

Tony is an economist and financial analyst by background, and spent the first 11 years of his career as an Asia-based institutional broker and analyst, working at Daiwa, Citibank and Barclays. He started his travel career working in corporate at Qantas for two years, before working in senior positions at TMCs, where he ran large tenders and financial modelling.

He has been a committee member on both the ACTE and the GBTA boards, and was the builder and deliverer of the GBTA CTE (Corporate Travel Executive) Certificate Course in five cities. Tony is a frequent speaker and moderator at large industry conferences, and has presented in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Auckland, Munich, Rome, Chicago, San Diego, and across Australia

Butler Caroye Asia Pacific won the Best Consultancy Award for all three years of the award, and was the first inductee into the Industry Hall of Fame.

Tony has been the author of the Best Practice feature article in the main Australia industry magazine, Business Travel Monthly, in every edition since 2002. He writes various other articles in a variety of business and industry journals.

He is based in Australia, has lived and worked in Singapore and Tokyo, and has extensive experience and knowledge across the Asia region.

Tony has an Honours Degree in Economics from The University of Melbourne.
