DonM_ImgColDon has nearly 30 years of experience working in the corporate travel and meetings industry.

He began his career in 1987, when he joined Business Travel News as a reporter -- eventually becoming a senior editor. He covered the then nascent discipline of corporate travel management, as well as the rise of global travel management companies. 

In 1995, Don joined American Express as a dedicated public relations consultant, helping to create and execute external communications strategy for the company's Business Travel Services and Corporate Card groups. Don helped markedly increase coverage of Amex research products, among them the monthly American Express Business Travel Monitor and the company's biennial Survey of Business Travel Management in the mainstream media, e.g. The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

During his successful 20-year career as a freelance communications consultant, Don also managed social media for Philadelphia-based strategic meetings management software maker StarCite, Inc. In 2012, after San Diego-based ACTIVE Network acquired StarCite, Don joined that company as a senior marketing content manager. Later, Lanyon, a Dallas-based travel technology maker, bought ACTIVE, and Don became senior content manager there, specializing in creating white papers, client case studies, infographics, e-books and other content to support products.

Don is a skilled communicator, digital marketer and social media aficionado. Among his achievements, he edited two publications on the art of Strategic Meetings Management (SMM) – The Strategic Meetings Management Handbook: From Theory to Practice, and the e-book, SMM Champions: Best Practices for Developing SMM.
